A divine appointment

This past week, I've been so blessed to have a team pouring into our brothel girls. It's been incredible to watch relationships form and grow so quickly. Last night, we hosted a "girls night" for all of the women and their daughters. They showed up dressed in their best; unsure of what to expect. We planned to dance, paint fingernails, eat pizza, and enjoy time with friends. We had no idea that God would fling doors open last night to something so much bigger, all because my church had donated bras and other items to share with the women. Yesterday afternoon, a group returned from Lacoma, a village in the west. Upon returning, one of the women mentioned she works to get women off the streets in the states. She was interested in investing in our women so we invited her to join the party. But that wasn't it. She happened to bring one of the girls their ministry had gotten off the streets.  In walks Sam, a 20 year old girl who had an incredible story of God's hope and redemption. She mentioned she might be interested in sharing her story with the girls. As she began speaking, all of the women focused so intently on her. She told them of the abusive relationships, the feeling of worth through sex, drugs, and alcohol. She explained that her abusive relationship led to her pregnant at 16 and on the streets.  Eventually she got into a rehab facility, where a church was ministering. She came to know Christ in such a real and powerful way. She found hope.

After some of the women spent time investing in her, one of them asked if she wanted to become a member of their family. It was through a few letters and short encounters that God gave Sam a new start and a new family.  As she told her story, I couldn't help but think how relevant it was to so many of our girls. Many of them have been or currently are in abusive relationships. Desperation to provide leads them to sell their bodies. It was so beautiful to watch the way the girls asked questions, they wanted to know more. It was such a God thing that he placed Sam here last night to show these women there's a hope. We can talk about it, but I think her presence helped them realize it.

The night only grew more awesome from there. Sam, and her friends, decided what better way to give back than to advocate for our women stateside. They took jewelry to sell and to tell the stories of our friends. They joined with us in believing God has so much more in store for the brothel girls.

And if God wasn't done working yet; several of the brothel girls asked us if they could have Bibles. They wanted Bibles so they can continue to learn more about who God is and his faithfulness.
