Wind Speed 2018

As summer comes to a close, our girls running club comes to an end. This year, we were blessed to have appropriate running attire donated so that each girl had shoes, shorts, matching t-shirts, etc. The girls were really excited about their "uniforms" and loved matching as they ran through the streets.  We started off originally with 14 girls who had participated over the previous years.  The girls decided to invite some of their friends from church to join and we ultimately ended up with 25 girls participating in Wind Speed.

There was much laughter, some running, a little dancing, and a great time together.  Each Tuesday, we met for a time of Bible study.  We didn't intend to have a theme, but we ended discussing a similar topic most of the summer- Freedom in Christ. I loved seeing the girls inviting their friends, reaching out, and participating together. Throughout the summer, we witnessed 10 girls make decisions to follow Christ and to be baptized.  They were baptized at various churches in town and it was great seeing them get connected with a church community for them to grow alongside.

Some mornings we ran hard, some mornings we hardly ran.  In the end, the girls had a great time and created a sense of having a team.  A week ago, we hosted a beach day for all of the girls that actively participated throughout break.  It was fun to see the girls just have fun and enjoy the beach.  They loudly chanted "Who are we? Wind Speed" as we drove through town and into the community where the beach is located.
