Comfort Zone
I absolutely hate being in front of large groups of people. However, when we needed someone to do worship last night, I was the only one who could play the guitar. So I did but I also made all of the other interns sing with me. Let's just say, joyful noise. We have morning devos at 6:45, I literally roll out of bed at 6:42, put on a skirt and run to devos. Melonnie looked at me and said so can you do devos? My reply was: I can read a Bible verse. And I did. I read Isaiah 58, I love that passage because it just resounds so much with me. To loosen the chains of injustice, to stop oppression, to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked. So the group who was supposed to do worship tonight approached me and asked if I would do worship for them. I said I would as long as they sang. Some other people joined in and it was an awesome time just worshiping God. One of the guys said, when you veer off the page, that's when the worship happens. I never really thought of it that way.
I did soccer camp with a group today. By far the most unchaotic game I have ever experienced. We didn't even have to guard the soccer balls or anything. It's refreshing when the kids aren't trying to steal the soccer balls or ask for your stuff all the time (totally a product of the mission). John, one of the boys--see pictures way back-- told me he wanted to make bracelets for all of my family so that way I would remember him. It hurt my heart to think that he didn't believe me when I said I'd miss him a lot. He also said to tell my mom that she needs to move down here so then I could live in Haiti forever. Side note---Mom and Dad, you will probably have like 5 bracelets each because all the kids want to make them for you.
This afternoon I helped with a vbs. We did it at the Bible College and had over a hundred kids. It went awesome. Once vbs was over, the kids all walked with us back to the mission gates. The Navy had made them those balloon animals and John had a sword. He was acting like he was being our security escort and walking like the American military does. It was so funny watching.

That sounds really awesome about the worship. Really cool that you could play guitar for them. And I'm sure the noise was just as joyful as it was that time in small group haha.
