Unity

The church in Haiti gathers every morning at 4 a.m. to worship and pray. Our Haitian staff gather every morning at 8 a.m. to worship and pray and then, they go to their programs and do a devotion with the Haitians there too. At 10 a.m. every morning, our staff gathers again to pray. There is lots of praying and it's so authentic. I'm a firm believer in the fact that all that praying is what is changing Haiti. The church is unified, yes, unified. It's a refreshing thing to know that churches can be real, transparent, and together.

I say all of this because it's something I truly believe the American church lacks. Even within our own churches, people are always at odds with each other or they just go through the motions. In case you haven't noticed yet, going through the motions gets you absolutely no where.

I went to the Breath the other night. There were SIX people. I don't know the exact number of people who attend Chester but I do know that it is a lot more than six. Seriously people? Where do we think we are headed if we can't even gather once a week to pray together. That's so discouraging. We can do all the motions and routines of a Sunday morning but if we can't even pray together, how in the world do we think that we are going to impact our community? This isn't meant to be condescending but it should make you think.
