The Mole

The rest of the interns left for st. Louis at four this morning. Morgan and I got to spend some time really exploring the Mole. Some of the Haitian staff took us into town. Mole st. Nicolas is the spot that Christopher Columbus first landed. We got to spend time going through the forts an really learning Haitian history. It was so cool to be sitting in such huge history, to be living in it. The forts were so neat and it was crazy to actually see history. This afternoon we spent some time in the orphanage with the kids. They are such a sweet bunch. We went with Jody to community women's bible study. That was a great experience. Jody gave us some history on the mole. Abuse is something that happens in many homes. Within sight of the mission, there is a women who beats her nephews so badly that they have to get their wounds cleaned in the clinic. Another house has two slave children. The adults broke the kids arms when people reached out to them. Hearing these stories just burdens my heart. Man, the things God could change through just the simplest things. Lately, I've just felt my heart breaking continuously for the Haitian people and for what they could become for God's kingdom.
