Reality

The groups left early this morning. It's always weird when the first ones leave.

Gislene, one of the cooks at the mission (See posts from last summer), is seven months pregnant. I'm so excited for her and knowing that she has so much joy about this child. Last night, we were talking about how I was leaving for a few weeks. She told me if she has a girl, she would like for me to name the child. I felt so honored.

I'm headed to the Mole tomorrow with Morgan to start working there. I'm excited for the new opportunities and different ministries. Pray that we have safe travels as its a 6-7 hour ride on the back of a truck.

Today was definitely a slap of reality. Last night a 2 pound baby girl was born.  We got to visit with her mom in the birthing center. When asked what's her name, the mom said she wasn't going to name the child until she knew it would live.

After lunchtime today, we heard screams coming from downstairs, so we took off running. When we got to the clinic waiting room, we saw a large crowd of people and drops of blood across the floor. A young man had shown up coughing and bleeding out of his nose. While trying to insert fluids, the man passed away. The screams we heard were the cries of his family. Reality hit hard. The gravity of that situation was hard to understand. Those of us Americans just circled up and prayed. We didn't really have anything to say, but we know that when we don't have the words to pray, the spirit speaks on our behalf.  The situation weighed heavily on most of our minds the rest of the day. Join us in praying for the family, that they know the comfort and peace that God can give.
