Brothel and Babies

I got to visit John's house yesterday during grocery ministry. It was cool because his family was so excited to see all of us and were so thankful. There were 12 people living under one roof. We visited the cholera clinic at the mission and it was heartbreaking. There was a woman who was 7 months pregnant. She looked so ill, longing for peace and comfort. The clinic grew to 20 patients today. There were several new children and one little boy who I've seen everyday. His mom always asks me to pray with him. I hate that this bacteria is wrecking havoc in a country that is exhausted, but they never complain. Today, Eveline's cousin was in the birthing center and my group wanted to minister to her. We stayed all day helping situate her, comfort her, and sitting with her. She finally had a little boy at 3 pm today. They named one of the American's the godmother, which was so stinking cool. I hung out with the family outside the delivery room, while the others went in.

The past few days the group has been visiting the brothel. The other day we stopped by and just asked if they had questions. That started an hour and a half long discussion with the guys that hang out in the brothel. We discussed and debated everything faith related to cultural struggles with Christianity. They asked us to return today at exactly 3 and a half, so we did. Those guys invited more guys to come today, which was encouraging. We ended up talking for 2 hours today and they want us to come back again tomorrow. They have been asking the tough questions and really challenging us. It has been such a cool time and our translator has been so amazing. Half the time, she just takes it away and then fills us in afterwards. It's encouraging to see Haitians passionate about spreading the Word.
