Hope to the Hopeless

After visiting Gislene's house, we really just felt that God was tugging at our hearts to do something. We decided to do groceries to their house and then we planned on doing another bag for another random family. Eveline came with us and she handpicked groceries for Gislene based on knowing her needs. We got to her house and she was at the mission. Her husband and kids were there and it was totally unexpected. We sat and talked for awhile and then gave him the food. Hannah looked at the second bag of food, looked at us, and then said can we just leave this bag too? We all agreed. Her husband was so excited, happy, and thankful. He just kept saying God bless you. I told him and the boys to not say we brought the food. They were told this was a gift from God, not us. Before leaving, we had Emily check out her husband's hand (she is an OT student). We told him to come to the mission and we would have someone check it out. This morning, Gislene called me into the kitchen and said thank you. I asked her why, she said she knew. Her husband came today and got his hand checked out. One of our amazing interns made him a hand splint on the spot. She dropped everything and made him one from scratch with whatever she could find. He was so stinking excited. He and Gislene just kept smiling the whole time, and the OT told him to return Monday so they could work on exercises for him to strengthen his wrist at home. It's so cool to see him have a chance, there's potential because a piece of plastic and some stretches. There is a future of provision, God's providing for this family and they've been such an example of faithfulness for me.
