Ansefoleur

I took a group to Ansefoleur today. It was an adventure to say the least. When you get a type A personality in a third world country, things get interesting. The group wanted to throw stuff off the truck to the kids as we were driving. That is not only dangerous but rude because they are not some parade we are driving through. Once we got to the church, the kids were so crazy today that they knocked down the back door of the church. We were able to get some order so we did a Bible story, craft, and handed out peanut butter sandwiches. For the craft, all the kids wanted Brazil colors. They are fanatics when it comes to the World Cup.

We hiked up to the monument after that. There were actual voodoo people up at the cross doing their rituals. They sacrificed some bird looking thing under the cross. Our trip into the temple was strangely uneventful. We went into a completely empty room, which never happens. It was just a weird day there.

People ask what voodoo compares to in American society. The best response we can come up with is "Voodoo is to Haiti as Consumerism is to America." We both have those idols or things that keep us from truly loving and serving God.

One of the missionaries one year old son is very sick-- either heat strokes or seizures--neither are a good thing. So if you guys could pray for them, that would be awesome.
