One year

It's crazy to think that it's been a year since I fell in love with Haiti. Today was the perfect reminder of why. We spent the morning finishing up the baby orphanage painting and organizing tons of supplies. This afternoon I took a group to the local jail. There were 10 guys in the tiny cell and they were not very friendly today. Apparently when the second group went later, they wouldn't shut up.

I love hanging out with the granmoun so I went to meals on feet today. I've made friends with several of them and they now speak to me in town. When we were walking to deliver meals, some of the boys were hanging out with us. Two of them, John and Wisley, pretty much hang out outside the mission gates waiting for Americans to leave. They always keep us entertained to say the least.

One of the groups headed out to Salines Mayette but had a few minor bumps along the way. They got some flat tires and while they were waiting for the tires to be changed a Haitian tap tap drove by. For some reason, the right back end (of the Haitian tap tap) flew up and four people were thrown from it. They all severed injuries and luckily, there was some medical people in the mission truck who were able to help them. They drove them to the "hospital". One girl had a major gash above her eye and needed stitches. Another seriously scraped up her back. One girl was unconscious most of the trip back to the hospital but finally woke up before our people left. The last one just had some minor scrapes and bruises but it's such a God thing that everyone was okay. Apparently, the driver of that truck never stopped but just kept going. (For all you worriers, we don't stuff our trucks full with 30 people like them and we don't like our drivers go like maniacs.
