Father Abraham

Wednesday are staff family fun night. Everyone goes to the staff lounge and hangs out/plays games. We played this game called vroom. Everyone sits in a circle and you have to make a car acceleration noise without opening your mouth or to reverse the order you make a braking noise. It was very entertaining and we all got a good ab workout from laughing so much.

I lead a group to Ansefoleur today. We held a vbs at the church. The lesson the group taught was on Abraham. So we did a skit about all of the tribes and then had the kids sing the song. They sang so much that our interpretor had to tell them to be quiet. The kids just kept singing song after song. We gave each kid a peanut butter sandwich, which was surprisingly less chaotic than normal. Then we hiked to the monument. It's a large cement cross that was struck in half and the Voodoo believe that Satan was victorious over God. So we hiked up and prayed around it. It's cool to be praying at the same time as the Voodoo people but knowing that our God is the one who is really in control. We went down the mountain and walked to the temple. Joseph and Bena, our security, stopped at the police station and got us escorts. So we had two Haitian security, one interpretor (a fairly large man), and two Haitian police with massive bats in their hands. People were mad that we were going in and not paying but we did anyways. We went into the room and prayed. It's so hot and hard to breath in there. We walked through the courtyard and saw blood everywhere. They had just done a sacrifice luckily before we got there.

After we left the temple, we ate at the usual restaurant which was delicious. We got to go to this resort and we paid $10 for all of us to go to the private beach. It was gorgeous. On the way back, the tap tap driver was blaring music and Joseph, our security, tried to get me to dance. I got stuck on the 2x4 and managed to rip my skirt. But no worries, there is a group here doing sewing ministry so my skirt is good as new!

We are supposed to have another 50 people arrive tomorrow however, all of the Miami flights have been canceled so pray that all goes smoothly because when we have these problems, it costs the mission lots of money that could be spent on ministries.
