Do what you will

Let's just be honest, that's not a good thing to say to God if you really aren't to up for him actually doing it. One of the group members said if you get too close to the cross then you might actually have to carry it. Another said You need to surround yourself with people who kneel at the cross not lean on it.

I took a group to go do grocery ministry. It's the first time I actually led it so I was very nervous. We filled four bags full of food and a Bible. We walked up the mountain behind the mission and gave food to whatever house we felt led. One house was the lady who shared her song book with me yesterday! So crazy how God works. Another house when we walked away, they took the Bible out of the bag and were screaming and jumping up and down with it in their hands. We ended up at a voodoo house for the last one. She was very apprehensive of us. She was scared we would take the food if she didn't say the right things. We told her that's not going to happen. She said Jesus doesn't love old people. Are you crazy? Jesus loves old people a lot. We shared the TRUE story of the cross with her and she said she would be at church on Sunday. I told her I would look for her.

We took the group to house of hope for the afternoon. Those kids are the fattest Haitians kids you will ever see. It's a good thing to see people who actually eat enough.

I led a group to the local jail today. I just love being able to be real with them, no barriers-no expectations. We walked in and the guard was praying with them. Haiti is changing for the prison out, so so cool. There was a woman, who after talking with us said she wanted Jesus and we got her a Bible. Our translator started balling like a crazy man when we walked up to the cell and I looked in and saw a very familiar face. One of our former translators was in jail. He got into a fight a few weeks ago and skipped town so the police took his dad and brother. They have been sitting in the PORT DE PAIX PRISON for weeks. How can you live with yourself? They finally found him and were hopefully going to do an exchange tomorrow. We talked with him and he said he never really accepted Christ and that he knew he needed to. So he did and we told him how when he got to the prison, they did Bible study and there would be people to support him. When does that happen in America? One of the other men was a voodoo guy. He was so mangled and battered it was unreal. He wouldn't approach us even when we tried to give him food. He said he was sleeping one night and Jab (Satan) came to punish him and beat the snot out of him. He is disfigured to say the least. I told him that I would bring a nurse with me so that he didn't get sick from open wounds and we would pray that he would find protection in God.

Overall, today was so crazy awesome. God does amazing things. One of the group members is a recruiter for the Philadelphia Eagles. Such an awesome guy, he is black so all the kids think he is Haitian. We explained that not all Americans are white and they got excited saying they looked American. They also said bin Laden was their best friend, just trying to get a reaction. There was a guy at the bottom of the mountain with a broken leg. He was struggling just to get to his feet and this guy walks up, throws him over his shoulder, and carries the man up the mountain to the mission. We didn't even have to ask him if he could help, he just did it. Moments like those give me faith that some people still do have compassion, it's almost like the Samaritan story.
